The Ambierle Comics Festival is one of two comics festivals offered in the Loire department. It is located in the north of the department, while in the south, Rive-de-Gier offers another festival. The Roanne edition has become a highly anticipated event in September which highlights comics in all its richness (local, international, classic, manga, comics, graphic novels, etc.) around a field of 40 authors .

Did you know?

For a comic book festival, a very important moment is linked to the presentation of its poster; this one is always signed by a comic book author. Since its origins in 1979, the greatest authors, often awarded prizes at the Angoulême festival, have created a poster for Roanne or Ambierle: Enki Bilal, Drouillet, Schruiten, Margerin... A beautiful war treasure regularly exhibited. The latest was at the American university campus, Esplanade des Invalides in Paris on the occasion of their comic strip exhibition.

The history of the BD festival

The Village of Character, Ambierle, located on the Côte Roannaise, welcomes the international festival since 2011. Its historical origins are located in Roanne where the Festival of Science Fiction and Imagination devoted significant space to comics for 27 years, starting in 1979. After a short stay in Renaison in 2009 and 2010, he put down roots in this pretty village of character which is also one of the seven villages in the French book. Do we need more to confirm this: the Roannais has a taste for bubbles!

L'avis de Marion

Marion's opinion

Comics and me are a great love story... It started at my grandparents' house with the collection of Tintin's adventures. I also remember Asterix and Obelix that my parents gleaned at flea markets for my greatest pleasure. And over the years, I have learned to explore other great classics like the Largo Winch, the Trolls of Troy and lesser-known collections (The Song of the Stryges, Red Nocturnes, The Law of the Twelve Tables, etc.) . So, a comic book festival near me, with meetings, signings and workshops, I love it!
