RTO celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2023!
Conceived and created to support restaurateurs, RTO has become over the years a reference festival. 2023 marks the 20th edition of this event which has never denied its DNA and its uniqueness in France! Promoting the fine gastronomy of Roanne with, as an essential ingredient, live entertainment.
The 2023 edition in figures:
- 75 dinner shows,
- 42 participating restaurants,
- 27 artists present,
- 3 dinners in the dark,
- 1 “3-star evening at the theater”,
- 1 opening night at the Halles Diderot.
What is Roanne Table Ouverte?
If we have to define the festival in one sentence, it would be: “the marriage of gastronomy and live performance”! It brings together all the players working in the field of gastronomy: restaurateurs, professionals in the catering trade, local producers. The originality of the concept, unique in France, lies in the opening of restaurants to artists for original evenings!
An edition of the festival is:
- An opening night “Tasting” at the Halles Diderot. The professionals of Les Halles including 2 Meilleur Ouvrier de France open their stalls to restaurateurs. This evening is intended to be friendly and affordable to as many people as possible for the tasting of dishes made from local products.
- A hundred dinner shows in more than 40 places-restaurants in Roannais with a rich and varied program of shows. The chefs offer a menu according to their specialty, sometimes gastronomic, sometimes regional or sometimes more exotic!
- Cooking workshops discovery, gourmet events and new events offered every year.
- Many partners throughout the Roanne conurbation and beyond!
An event labeled “Vignobles et Découvertes”
Since this year, Roanne Table Ouverte has been labeled “ Vineyard and Discoveries“. This label highlights destinations that work to promote and enhance wine tourism through activities, service providers or events.
The RTO Festival allows you to enjoyunique experiences around wine, gastronomy and live entertainment during workshops, festive evenings and exhibitions.
Perfect timing with Fascinating weekend, an event organized as part of the Vignobles et Découvertes label, which each year offers a program of events around these strong themes on the 3rd weekend of October.

A rich and varied program, motivated partners!
Since its creation in 2003 by the city of Roanne, the Roanne Table Ouverte festival has taken place every year throughout the month of October! It is the unmissable event of the Roannais recognized in the Loire department, as far as Lyon and well beyond the regional borders.
The program is intended to be rich, varied and evolves every year:
- Shows offered according to different themes: French song, theater, cabaret, world music, opera, jazz ...
- Culture takes place at the table: a cultural program in place in specific places such as the theater of Roanne, the Déchelette museum. These are exhibitions, conferences, workshops
- Original proposals around gastronomy with, for example, dinners in the dark. You will taste a menu concocted by Roanne chefs without ever seeing your plate! Surprising, confusing and delicious…
RTO owes its success also to the motivation and involvement of many partners, in particular the association of restaurateurs from Roanne: The Roannaises Tables !
Created in 2009 and taking over from the former Amicale des Restaurateurs, this associative network brings together Roanne chefs around a common objective: to promote local gastronomy.
These restaurateurs take part in local events such as Roanne Table Ouverte, demonstrating all the quality of their know-how and products from the Roanne region.

How to participate in Roanne Table Ouverte?
Every year, a guide is published to present the full program of the festival. You will find all the information on website or on Facebook and Instagram.
Lunches are at 12 p.m. and dinners at 30 p.m. and the prices vary greatly depending on the restaurant and the show offered.
Online ticketing generally opens at the beginning of September.

I love this month of October when the whole town of Roanne puts on the colors of the event. Everyone thinks RTO and shares their experience. Did you go to the tasting evening? I loved this restaurant that I did not know yet and what about the show! A true identity festival for our territory.
