In the heart of the Côte Roannaise vineyard, the gourmet walk has been the unmissable summer event in Roannais, since 2013! This wine tour is the opportunity to discover the wines of the appellation through taste and unusual stages.

2 villages will host the 2024 Gourmet Walk
Like every year, the Gourmet Walk is organized at the beginning of July!
New for 2024: the Gourmet Walk will be organized on Saturday evening at Saint-Haon-le-Chatel and Sunday during the day at Saint-Haon-le-Vieux.
2 meetings will therefore be offered:
- Saturday, July 6 in the evening for a “walk” circuit with 4 departures staggered from 19 p.m. to 20:30 p.m. The evening will be festive with a tavern ball,
- Sunday, July 7 during the day for a walk. From starter to dessert, step by step, visitors enjoy a gourmet meal and quality wines in a warm, rural atmosphere.

The Gourmet Walk over the years
Our wine heritage is full of quality estates and grape varieties that make Roannais a land of wines.
The idea of a gourmet walk was born from 3 structures already anchored in local tourist development: the association of winegrowers of Côte Roannaise, the Roannaises Tables and the Roannais Agglomeration tourist office.
Since 2013, each year a village has been chosen to host the event. This is how Saint-Haon-le-Châtel, Ambierle, Villemontais, Saint-André-d'Apchon, Saint-Jean-Saint-Maurice-sur-Loire, Saint-Haon-le-Vieux, Saint-Alban-les -Eaux, Renaison and Le Crozet have already hosted this great event.
The last edition in 2023, the 10e edition of the Balade Gourmande en Côte Roannaise took place at Saint-Jean-Saint-Maurice-sur-Loire. It was sold out with more than 800 participants.
An appointment has been made for a new edition in 2024 with something new: 2 villages are hosting the event, Saint-Haon-le-Chatel et Saint-Haon-le-Vieux.

La Balade Gourmande, a concept
A 9 kilometer walk through vineyards, groves, meadows, villages offering breathtaking landscapes over Roanne and its plain crossed by the Loire. It is a walk with 5 gourmet breaks around the AOP (Protected Designation of Origin). From starter to dessert, step by step, you taste a gourmet meal and quality wines in a warm and rural atmosphere.

Exchange and conviviality are the key words of the Gourmet Walk. This event is intended to be festive with everyone's desire to share good times combining physical activity and gourmet pleasure.
The winegrowers share their profession with passion and gladly invite you to organize a visit to their estate.
A festive atmosphere reigns over all the stages thanks to the musical entertainment.
The pleasure of the taste buds at every step
Five restaurateurs from the Tables Roannaises association concoct a gastronomic menu with quality and local products: meat, mature cheeses, wines.

The wines of the Côte Roannaise, Quésaco?
Le vineyard of the Côte Roannaise has been an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) since 1994! The hillside stretches for 20 kilometers west of Roanne in a hilly countryside. Gamay reigns supreme over the 200 hectares of the AOC. He finds here the granite soils which suit him perfectly.
The AOC Côte Roannaise is 30 independent winegrowers who shape the vines so that they give the best of the terroirs.
New recognition for this vineyard in 2020 with the “ Vineyard and Discovery ". This label is a guarantee of welcome and sharing for visitors.
How to participate in the Balade Gourmande?
The walk can only be done by reservation at the Roanne tourist office or online. Departures are organized every 30 minutes from 9:30 a.m. to 13 p.m.
Equipped with a fun wine discovery tour booklet, an engraved tasting glass and its glass holder, you will be ready to travel the miles in the heart of the vineyards!

La Balade Gourmande combines hiking and discovery of the terroir: AOC Côte Roannaise wine and local products! An original concept for Roanne tourism which welcomes more and more visitors every year. A gourmet and friendly meeting to try absolutely!
