A historic club

Created in 1937, the Choir Roanne Basket is the historic club launched by the first president of the Chorale Mulsant: Henri Rhodamel!
In 1941, André Vacheresse, a young man from Roan, first made the club known by reaching the semi-finals of the French championship in 1946.
It was in 1953 that the Choir entered the National Division for the first time in its history. An ascent towards the elite occurred until 1959 when the Choir won its 1er national title.
Then, the choir will oscillate with difficult years and years of maintenance until the 2000s when the club is structured and rises again.
In 2007, it was the year of all records and the title of French champion!

Today, the Roanne Basket Choir evolves in 1st division since 2019.
This club thus connects all the players in Roanne and draws the passion of the most fervent public of French basketball. The whole city is behind his club!

DID YOU KNOW ?

Where does the name of the Choir come from?
In 1932, the Mulsant district of Roanne had its singing choir. It was quite famous until 1936, when the young choir members and the city of Roanne decided to diversify the activities by creating a cycle tourism section and then a basketball section. Under the leadership of Henri Rhodamel, the Roanne Basket Choir was born!

An emblematic facility: the Halle Vacheresse

La Hall Vacheresse was built in 1988 and then renovated in 2011. It is one of the emblematic facilities of Roannais Agglomeration.
This room is essentially dedicated to the practice of high-level basketball: both a training center and a professional club!
With modern and colorful architecture, it is easily recognizable and bears the name of a Roanne player who did a lot for the club: André Vacheresse.
