How to taste AOC-IGP wines? For the aperitif, choose a rosé wine. Fresh and thirst-quenching, you can also taste them in sparkling wines. They give off aromas of cherry and blackcurrant buds. As a starter, taste a dry white wine IGP Vins de Pays d'Urfé. And to accompany your dish, a platter of cold meats or cheeses, choose a red wine loaded with notes of fruit punctuated with spices and leather.

Red wines

Gourmet wines, red wines from the Roannaise Coast are made from the Gamay grape. Their ruby colors, their fruit aromas make them drinkable, straightforward, pleasant to drink. Harvests from old vines with longer vatting give more powerful harmonious peppery wines with silky tannins.

To highlight the flavors a platter of cold meats or farm cheeses, prefer a young red wine, very tasty.

Rosé wines

Rarer, with only 15% of the production, the rosés of the Côte Roannaise are to be drunk during the year. With a dress in shades of pink, they have a nose that is oriented towards cherry and blackcurrant. On the palate, freshness and liveliness await you.

White wines

The curiosity of the winegrowers pushes them to plant other grape varieties, generally white such as Chardonnay and Viognier. The resulting wines are classified IGP Vins de Pays d'Urfé. Other curiosities are to be discovered such as sparkling wines or sweet wines.

Bloggers' words

“Thierry Désormière warmly welcomes me and shows me around the farm. In the vines, I discover the work of the winegrowers, the buds which begin to open and the small leaves which appear. Thierry explains the wine-making process to me and shows me the wine tanks, to finally give me a taste of wine, bottled three weeks earlier. Red, white: how good it is! The peculiarity of its wines is that they are very fruity, which is what I like! "

Frederique's opinion

So to be honest, I don't drink red wine… Ouch, it starts badly… But the Côte Roannaise is also very good rosé or sparkling wines. In summer on the terrace, I therefore choose, as soon as possible, an AOC Côte Roannaise rosé. And so to end a good meal with family or friends, I like to surprise my guests by making them discover a sparkling “Made in Côte Roannaise”. We forget about champagne and take advantage of local know-how and deliciously sparkling wines.
