Place des Promenades is the historic garden of Roanne which constitutes a real green lung in the city center, with its play areas, fitness equipment, lawns, benches and kiosk.

Created in 1811 at the instigation of Mayor François Populle, its design was initially “French-style” with large walkways and pavilions. Its surface area was reduced during the creation of the railway between Roanne and Andrézieux, then with the construction of the Promenades bridge. This garden offers functions for all generations, it is also the venue for events, for example the July 14 ball.
