A regional sporting event
The Raid Nature 42 is the annual departmental sporting event. Since its creation in 2006 by the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee of the Loire (CDOS) and the Loire Department, each edition takes place in a town or village in the Loire region.
The objective of this sports competition is the promotion of nature sports in the department. Itinerant event, the objective is also the discovery of places of full nature. Finally, the idea is to bring participants together through the practice of an activity in conviviality and good humor.
2023: Nature Raid in Saint-Just-en-Chevalet
Saint-Just-en-Chevalet is a village nestled in the Pays d'Urfé in the mounts of the Madeleine on the edge of massif of the Black Woods. Labeled village, Village Sports Nature, it will host the 17e edition of the Raid Nature 42 on the 3rde Sunday in September 2023.
This sports competition takes place in teams of 3 and without assistance.
In a wild setting, the teams cross varied landscapes using a road book, a map and different modes of travel. With friends, family, colleagues, take up the challenge of these different courses offered.

Each year, the Raid nature offers many outdoor activities that change depending on where the event takes place.
First, there are the traditional outdoor activities with, for example, orienteering, mountain biking, running, hiking, golf, basketball, football, archery... But also new activities depending on the location. or handisport activities: FTT, joëlette…
In 2023, in Saint-Just-en-Chevalet, participants will be able to find a stage of the “Ligerian flame trails” with sports activities open to all. Moreover, Saint-Just-en-Chevalet is the cradle of the mountain bike area of the Bois Noirs massif, being part of Open air destination, the largest FFC-certified mountain bike area in France.
Several courses are offered depending on the profile of the participants:
- Sports : seasoned athletes, accustomed to nature raids or running,
- Discovery : amateur sportsman, who likes to run and who likes the diversity of raid events,
- Family : parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, cousins,
- Handisport : disabled sportsman with their companions.

- Canoeing at Lac de Villerest in 2019,

How to participate in the Raid Nature 2023?
The Raid Nature 42 will take place on Sunday September 17, 2023 in Saint-Just-en-Chevalet.
4 routes to choose from : athlete (over 18 years old), discovery (over 14 years old), disabled sportsman and family (over 10 years old).
Put on good sneakers and your mountain bike, your backpack and your good mood to take up the challenge of this day dedicated to outdoor sports. Above all, conviviality remains the key word of this event.

The Raid Nature is more an opportunity for me to challenge myself with friends or colleagues than to perform a sporting feat. I imagine a team on an easy course in the middle of nature where the primary spirit is to have a good time and have fun! Are you tempted?
