In 2017, the municipalities of the Loire receive a call for partnership to represent the department through nature sport. Labeled "Village Sport Nature" since 2020, Violay and Saint-Régis-du-Coin are paving the way for other municipalities. Particularly in Roannais where Cordelle and Saint-Just-en-Chevalet are in the process of being certified.
The Village Sport Nature label, quésaco?
A Nature Sport Village is a destination 100% dedicated to outdoor activities. Labeled by the Loire department , he must meet the conditions for quality practice. It offers :
- At least 3 outdoor activities that you can experience all year round, either independently or accompanied by experienced and qualified service providers,
- An entertainment program,
- A range of catering, accommodation, shops and health services in the immediate vicinity,
- A reception/cloakroom area.
Physical and sporting activities carried out in a natural land, water or air environment, nature sports are booming. From cycling to hiking, climbing, skiing, trail running and even canoeing... They are part of the DNA of the Loire. With its reliefs, its river, its varied landscapes and its numerous trails, it is the ideal playground for all sports enthusiasts. This is why the Department of the Loire actively supports the development of nature sports in the Loire, for everyone, from experienced athletes to families.
The goal : An increasingly sporty and attractive territory!
Please note that the label can be given either to:
- A village that meets the criteria as indicated on your site,
- Or outdoor sports equipment: the “outdoor spot”.
Cordelle
The village of Cordelle, labeled Village Sport Nature, offers mountain biking, hiking and rowing all year round. You can practice hiking using the various circuits offered by the COPLER. On the 2-wheel side, 7 mountain bike circuits are offered from 8,5 to 72 kilometers. And for rowing, go to the largest meander of the Loire River, at the nautical base of the Loire classified Natura 2000.
Saint-Just-en-Chevalet
Saint Just en Chevalet obtained the “Sport Nature” label in 2022. Saint-Just-en-Chevalet offers the following activities:
- Hiking : 3 nature trails and 1 heritage circuit,
- Nordic hiking : group lessons are offered on Wednesday mornings to all audiences,
- Moutain Biking : Two circuits of theBois Noir mountain bike area cross the town and can be the starting point for many other routes thanks to the connection points,
- Bicycle tourism : The local cycling club offers 4 cycling tours (the booklet which lists them is on sale at the tourist office): from 61 to 87 km.
An annual event which is starting to gain momentum takes place in Saint-Just-en-Chevalet: the Rémi Cavagna. In 2024, Remi Cavagna will take place on Sunday September 8.
