At the southern exit of the village, on the road to La Pacaudière (D8), proudly stands a feudal motte (or motte castrale) which dominates the valley of the Urbise river.

Clods appear from the early Middle Ages. These are defense works made up of a significant elevation of earth brought in a circular shape (the mound). They have often inspired toponymy, for example in St-Romain-la-Motte.
