On the edge of the Chartrain dam stands the Douglas tree, the tallest in Europe, approximately 67m and 4m in circumference. It continues to grow about 25 cm per year! This Douglas celebrated its 2021th anniversary in 130.

The Douglas-fir trees of Renaison, giants over 130 years old, were planted in 1892 during the construction of the dam.
Douglas fir trees were introduced to France in 1842. Douglas fir trees (Pseudotsuga Menziesii, “Oregon pine” or “Douglas fir”) belong to the Pinaceae family. They can live up to 500 years. Rapidly growing, the Douglas fir is very popular for reforestation. Its pinkish-brown wood is used for carpentry, construction, packaging.
It is the tallest tree in France and the tallest Douglas fir in Europe.
It was recognized as a "Remarkable Tree" in 2021.
