In the Middle Ages, this village had many buildings which were mostly destroyed in 1590 by the royalist troops of Henri IV. You can still admire several buildings that evoke this tragic past.

Parking

All year, every day.

The keep, which is a high square tower from the 4th century where you can still clearly distinguish XNUMX floors, the seigniorial castle from the XNUMXth century, the farm from the XNUMXth century, construction on a wooden frame, typical of Roannais and the paddle mill in front of the dovecote.
The current town of St-Forgeux is of recent construction but an XNUMXth century Romanesque church with a bedside and a curious external staircase leading to the bell tower (XNUMXth century) attests to its medieval past. The Lespinasse forest and the many hiking trails add another note to its tourist interest.
