The Akpé Jô Mimi musical ensemble was created in 2018, following the meeting between the Beninese Olaïtan brass band, made up of 7 musicians, and 5 improvising musicians from the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes and Burgundy regions. It is the meeting between two families of musicians, both so distant and so close. It's a big band, it's rhythmic, there are melodies, solos, movement, flights of fancy, generosity, it's also songs and above all an encounter as surprising as it is fiery!
An astonishing fusion of jazz and Beninese music, Olaïtan translates as “the source never dries up”. Founded in 2016, the Olaïtan fanfare is made up of 7 musicians united to create multicultural music accessible to all based on the traditional culture of Benin. She presents a wild show, a mixture of traditional music, afrojazz and afrobeat where molten brass and traditional drums intertwine to create one unison, to be felt while dancing and singing.
