The town is rich in 37 crosses planted at the crossroads but the most beautiful heritage of Villemontais remains the magnificent view of the Roannais.

Map List

1 - Departure

In front of the town hall of Villemontais, go down the village to the junction with the D53.

2 - Step 1

Take the D53 on the left for a few meters then right towards the cemetery. Go down to the left under the cemetery and go up to La Côte.

3 - Step 2

Go up to the left on the road. At the crossroads, continue straight on the path towards Vignes Vaques. Take the road opposite.

4 - Step 3

At the crossroads, turn right towards La Goutte Rouge. At the next intersection, fork to the left, pass in front of a house before entering the woods. At the end of this narrow path, follow a wider path which goes up towards Chérier.

5 - Step 4

Take a left at the 1st intersection and get off.

6 - Step 5

At the reservoir, turn right towards Ripouroux. Before the house turn left and go down. When you reach a cross at the end of the path, go up to the right for 500 m on the Napoleon road.

7 - Step 6

Go up the path on the left in the undergrowth. At a cross, go straight down towards Loresse.

8 - Step 7

Cross the hamlet, take the path on the left, and cross the D53. Go down to the village of Villemontais and reach your starting point.
