The Cross of the Meadows

From the car park, go down rue de la Bruyère (D203), then turn left onto chemin des Grandes Terres. Stay the course and cut the D202.

At the Bois de Châtelus, turn left onto a path. Further on, find the tar. Continue in the same direction and cross the D202. Turn right to reach the Ménard crossroads.

Turn right towards Villemontais then take the 1st left. Cross the D8 and climb a hill on the left. At a place called "the Chapel", cut a road and take the path opposite. Cross the D86 and go up opposite. Before a house, climb steeply up a stony path to reach the Croix des Prés.

Turn left, continue straight ahead and descend to the D86, then in the direction of Fond.

When you arrive at the hamlet, take an immediate left. At the 1st intersection, fork to the right then cross the tarmac on the right to take a path on the left which goes up into the woods.

Cross the D8 and get off on the road. Leave a path on the left and take the next one at the crossroads. After a steep descent, cross a road and reach a crossroads at the level of a stream.

Continue straight ahead and go up. Turn right onto Route du Ménard (D202) towards St-Jean-St-Maurice then take the 1st right.

In Chalandière, continue on the path opposite and walk along the lagoons. At the houses, turn onto the first path on the left as far as the Croix de Mission. Take the path under the cross.

Cross the D203 and follow the Ris Serpentin stream which flows into the Loire. Continue along the reservoir and go up to the left towards the village.

Go around the church and go to the viewpoint. Continue under the keep then pass the Porte du Ris Serpentin to exit the village of St-Maurice. In the square, turn left and join the Cure - tourist and cultural center. Climb the stairs and cross the road at the nursery. Turn right, then right again and finally left, going up rue de l'Union (D203). Take the ridge path on the right. At the end of the path, immediately turn left and right onto rue de Chassor to return to your starting point.
