The Montmeugne remains for the inhabitants of the village a mythical place.
At its top, a basin shaped in the granite of the rocks by erosion for some or by the hand of man for others is at the heart of the legend of Caesar's armchair.

All year.

Whether or not there was a Roman camp at the top of Montmeugne, as has long been claimed, is of little importance. The bottom line is that generations of children have sat in this cauldron and their imaginations have prompted them to think of themselves as a Roman emperor overseeing his empire.
After all, legends are made to inspire dreams and there are indeed the ruins of a Roman temple dedicated to Mercury at the top of the Puy de Dôme!

To get to this site, take the Chemin de la Madone from the village behind the church.
