Topo / step by step
Departure: At the station exit, turn right and follow the cinema until the roundabout. Step 1: Cross and go down the stairs to reach the gardens of Place des Promenades. Cross the square then enter the Musée Déchelette park. In front of the sub-prefecture turn right into rue Déchelette then left into rue Anatole France. At the Swiss crossroads, go down rue Jean Jaurès to the right, pass in front of the town hall and continue straight on until the roundabout. Step 2: Go along the roundabout to the right and cross the avenue at the traffic lights. Go down towards the port of Roanne. Take the Quai de l'Ile, go up towards the sea wall and the Quai du Commandant Fourcault. Follow Allée Merveilleux du Vignaud to the fire station. Step 3: Go down towards the Loire to take the path along the banks of the Loire. Follow the path, pass under the road bridge, skirt the gardens and the sewage treatment plant to reach the Mâtel gravel pits. Step 4: Go around the gravel pits and follow the Loire to the Aiguilly bridge. Turn left along the shooting range. Continue opposite and join the canal. Step 5: Turn left onto the towpath. Continue along the water's edge. Step 6: At the fire station, cross the bridge on your right and continue left to follow the pool. Step 7: At the end of the basin, cross rue du Quai du Commandant Lherminier then avenue de Lyon. Take rue des Minimes to find rue Jean Jaurès and return to your starting point.
