Fabrication des papillotes Révillon

The ingredients of a "real" papillote

The “code of practice” of this emblematic Christmas specialty is very strict: to be able to claim to be called “papillote”, several criteria must be met:

  • It is a chocolate, or a quality confectionery, like a fruit paste, a nougat… coated or not in chocolate.
  • Papillotes must always offer at least two different recipes in the same packaging, they are always an assortment of sweet treats.
  • The chocolates are wrapped in a beautiful gold foil, itself to be fringed.
  • Quote, positive thinking, general knowledge… each papillote necessarily offers a message to read and share with those you love!
Pensées positives des papillotes Révillon

The legend says ...

Legend has it that the papillote was created in 1790 in the shop of the Lyon pastry chef Sieur Papillot. His apprentice, head over heels in love with this pastry chef's daughter, offered his sweetheart chocolates wrapped in sweet messages. Noting the disappearance of his sweets, Sieur Papillot suspected his clerk, spied on him and recognized him as the author of the crime. Charmed by the idea, he took it over on his own and replaced the statements with quotes… The papillote was born!

«Papillotes Révillon, it's finally Christmas soon! "

L'avis de Marion

Marion's opinion

Today, the papillotes have become emblematic chocolates for the end of the year celebrations. They do not only contain messages, they are themselves a message, the most delicious and the most exciting: Christmas is coming!
Christmas is coming, family meals, children's smiles, joy and sharing and always a chocolate to finish the meal!
My favorite, pure Roman hazelnut Gianduja on a thin layer of milk chocolate! And you, are you more dark, milk or white chocolate?
