Handicrafts from the Pays d'Urfé, uassociation with the service of craftsmen
The Association groups together:
- Craftsmen-creators who make various traditional or contemporary objects from natural materials such as wood, wicker, earth, stones, plaster, metal, cotton, wool or even leather,
- Producers of wines, honey, syrups, jams, oils, vinegars, ointments, dried plants ...,
- Writers (local authors and the writer-historian-genealogist Jean Canard),
- Artists, painters and designers.

The history of craftsmanship in the Pays d'Urfé
At the beginning of the 1970s, a group of peasant women decided to create the association “Rural and peasant craftsmanship of the Pays d'Urfé”. They usually get together, on the occasion of vigils, to do knitting or crochet work. Men joined them mainly to make baskets.
Over time, faced with the production produced, they express the wish to exhibit their production. The municipalities of the canton of Saint-Just-en-Chevalet then provide them with itinerant exhibition and sale points.
Faced with growing success, the municipality of Saint-Just-en-Chevalet, SIVOM and then the community of municipalities gave them free access to premises located in the historic district, the castle district.
Over the years, other designers have joined the association, including cabinet makers, sculptors, woodturners, potters ...
Agenda
At each event organized by the association, certain craftsmen (basket maker, wood turner) work in front of the public and demonstrate their know-how.
Every Sunday afternoon, the artisans who are on duty in the craft shop present their creations and products to the public. They take the opportunity to explain their working method and for some even make demonstrations.

- Christmas markets organized in the region - December.
